It’s Saturday again.
This week sure went by fast, didn’t it?
Man. It is rough to try to lose weight in the midst of the worst winter (weather-wise) in my entire life. Our schedule keeps getting thrown off for snow and we are left in the house with nothing to do but eat, read, and watch t.v. I’ve actually really enjoyed the slower pace and my introvert self does not mind several days in a row spent in pajamas, but that is not the stuff that of which weight loss is made.
Also, Valentine’s Day candy was 75% off at the beginning of this week. I’m sure you can see where I am going with thisI haven’t seemed to be able to get back into my regular exercise routine either.
All of that, plus the fact that my workload has really picked up lately (great for us financially, but it also means a lot of time spent on my butt in front of a computer), adds up to not a great week in terms of “getting skinny.”
Now, I did do some things this week to ensure that I did not gain a million pounds.
We cooked most of our meals at home.
I only ate bread twice.
I drank a lot of water.
I did not do a lot of snacking after dinner. (I had a fruit popsicle one night and a handful of the chips my husband was eating another night.)
But, when I weighed myself yesterday the scale still went up this week. Not a ton, but my weight did go back up by about half of a pound.
I’m not at 176.4, which is a 0.6lb gain since last week, but still a few pounds less than where I started.
Are you getting bored with such tiny fluctuations week after week?
I know I am.
I can see how it is tempting for people to do drastic diets for fast weight loss, but I’ve tried those and I know that they aren’t a good idea for me.
I am really looking forward to warmer weather and fresh vegetables and opportunities to be more active in our garden and our pool. I honestly think that will make the biggest difference for me, but here in Pennsylvania we still have another month or so of a harsh winter ahead of us.
My goal for this week upcoming is to get back into daily exercise.
What is your new goal for this week?

It is so frustrating. I have been trying to focus on being healthy rather than “dieting,” but this time of year makes it hard for sure. Plus, my hubby has been home. He travels a lot for work, but has been home for four weeks straight – very unusual. When he is home, I tend to make bigger meals and, sometimes we do lunch dates during the week. It is nice, but not figure friendly!
That time with him is worth it for sure, though.
