This feels like running for the Student Government in high school all over again, but if you have an extra few minutes in your day I would very much appreciate it if you would continue to vote for Binkies and Briefcases in the Power of Moms Blog Contest. I am very honored to be a finalist among several other blogs written by amazing moms.
Taking A Breath
First of all, Happy Father’s day to **this guy**
Eddie decided that for Father’s Day this year he would like to take an impromptu family trip to the beach. Needless to say, he didn’t meet much resistance.
We are very fortunate that my mom owns a beachfront condo and it was available for us to use this weekend.
You can’t beat waking up to this
We spent a lot of time with our toes in the sand
and discovering new things
And the beach is private enough that I wasn’t too concerned about being in the swollen, bloated, I don’t look pregnant yet, I just look fat stage.
Thanks mom!
It’s a long drive with little kids, but we had a great time at the beach and the pool all day on Saturday and we ordered steamed crabs as a special Father’s Day treat.
I also wanted to share a mom tip that I stole from a complete stranger a few years ago: If you have young kids, take a baby pool to the beach. Our kids didn’t play in it too much this year, I think Nick is outgrowing the idea, but for two years in a row it was seriously a life saver. We just use our buckets to fill it with ocean water. It’s much easier to keep an eye on little ones, safer than the strong current in the ocean, and the water gets heated from the sun pretty quickly so the kids can play longer without shivering.
I hope you had a great Father’s day weekend as well. And please let me know if you have any other beach tips for us!!
Warning: I’m About To Make You Totally Jealous
Unless you live here in central PA too, then you can share in the most amazing discovery ever:

Then, after reading my post about our trip to the dairy farm, my friend Rebecca told me that a family from her church has their own farm too. And guess what? They deliver!!!!!!!!
Does anyone else think this is the most amazing invention of all time??? Maybe it’s just me, but I am, like, jumping up and down excited over here!
Local peepz, you can get milk from grass fed, hormone free cows (in freakin’ glass bottles people!!! I’m in heaven.) beef, free range eggs, bread, ice cream, and even organic produce delivered to your door from Apple Valley creamery. And the delivery fee is actually less than I have been paying to order our groceries online from a big chain store and go pick them up myself.
I placed my first order today. My delivery date is Thursday.
I hope it’s as amazing as I think it will be. If so, I am never going to the grocery store again. I can pick up snack food at Target or my other new favorite secret: the bread outlet that is a mile away from my house.
Have you discovered any local treasures lately?
