I was reflecting on stuff to do with my kids this summer. Join a pool? Enroll in a camp? Hmmm…what did I do when I was younger?
Duh. I hung out with my bestie, Lauren, and we made it our mission in life to drag our parents to malls across America and try to collect autographs from the entire cast of Full House. Because, really, there is nothing sweeter in life than waiting in line for 3 hours so that Candace Cameron can sign a picture you tore out of Big Bopper magazine.
Thank you to the parents and grandparents that indulged this habit and waited in line with us for hours. They were probably just grateful that we were happy to be somewhere with air conditioning. Alas, we were never able to tack down the Olsen twins (I’m half proud and half mortified to admit that I was an actual card-carrying member of their fan club), but we did hang out all day at a car convention once for the chance to meet Nate Richart from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. So there’s that.
Unfortunately I don’t have any of my memorabilia (hence why all the pictures say “to Lauren”) but the memories of standing in line with thousands of other adoring fans, eating Auntie Anne’s pretzels and sipping Orange Julius?
Priceless.
So, on the off chance that the cast of Good Luck Charlie decides to do a mall tour of the east coast this summer, you’ll know where to find me with my kids.
