Just saw your original article about target. I am sooooo glad that I do not have
Small children these days. I am not Christian, and sit between liberal and conser-
Vative, and I think the clothes for little girls are AWFUL!!! Good for you for taking
A stand! I hope when you detect negativity in readers replies that you quickly hit
The delete button. Sorry to hear of your health problems. I hope you have a speedy,
Uncomplicated recovery.

Very nice article and I will say that I agree with you 100 percent! I also agree that everyone has the right to chose how they dress their children and I don’t have the right to tell someone what they can nor cannot do. I am a father of two boys and actively help raise my niece of 11. When I didn’t like certain shorts at Target or Walmart I went to another rack and found one I did like for lets be honest here lady these stores carry all different shapes and sizes of shorts. The issues isn’t about dressing your daughter what you are trying to do is tell everyone else what is right and what is wrong and that I must say is not right. But hey good luck I’m sure you get enough likes and shares you can do just that and change things.

Hi, I used to work at on of the stores you mentioned in the design office. I want to tell you a bit about the process – this is not any kind of attack, just a bit of a insight into what goes on in the process of selection.
Design teams each get a “plan” for each season/delivery date. We strive to meet all of the needs that are being made. The plan usually calls for 60-70% “core” product (more basic, and usually the more modest (for lack of a better word). THOSE styles are the ones you should be looking at. The rest is broken up between “fashion basic” and “fashion” – Fashion being at the top of the pyramid and the least important. BUT it still has to be represented in every line. It looks to me that you picked fashion things to compare/measure.
Part of the thing with apparel is that there is great pressure in the design process to be sure that you are following trend. It looks to me that you are picking the pieces that would be termed by the Target or Kohl’s buying team as “fashion” and not “core”. The boys shorts you picked were “core”. So it is not really apple to apple. I bet that there were shorts that had an inseam longer than 1″, but you did not pick those for the comparison.
As for the tee shirts and jeans, girls and boys bodies are different. The girls’ jeans are shorter because for the most part, girls are shorter at that age, and they are using a median measurement for the fit.I bet that there are all different fits available, but again, you picked Fashion jeans. NOT Core for the girl/boy comparison.
Girls tee shirts are pretty much always going to have a bit of a different fit – or shape.
It is not just Target OR Kohl’s. Go to Macy’s, H and M, Gap, etc. If you picked the more core items, you probably wouldn’t have such an issue with the length of inseams or shape of shirts.
You obviously went to the shortest shorts, and didn’t ever look or try to look for the longer ones to make your point. There is no way that those short inseamed shorts were the ONLY option for girls.
A very biased report. I get it you want to buy more modest clothing for your child, you should not have a problem finding them. They are up to 80% of each brand options.
So, maybe don’t look at the faster fashion items. Look for the core. That is more what you seem to want. If you opened your eyes, you would see it.
