Yesterday I opened the Stitch Fix box that my husband picked up from the post office this weekend. (Sometimes the people delivering our packages have a hard time finding our house because we sit back off the road.)
I have to say, this was my favorite Stitch Fix yet. Almost every item was something I would have picked out for myself. It took a little while for us to mesh, but my now stylists are getting really good at understanding what I’m looking for!
This was my fourth delivery from Stitch Fix. You can see my last box in this post. I had built up a few credits from people buying through my referral link, so I had that budget in mind while I was “shopping” through my box. Disclosure: For your convienience, this post also contains a referral link to Stitch Fix that you can use if you decide you want to sign up.
What it is: Stitch Fix is a service where a personal stylist picks out clothes and sends them to you in the mail. You try them on at home, decide what you want to keep, and mail back anything you don’t want. There is a postage paid pre-addressed large envelope-style bag included. You just put whatever you don’t want into the bag, and put it in a mailbox. Keep the things you do want, then checkout on their website. It’s very easy. I like not having to drag all three of my kids into a dressing room with me to try on clothes or hire a babysitter so I can go shopping. I can do it in the privacy of my own home after they are all asleep. Plus, the element of surprise is fun. It’s like getting five presents in the mail.
Here is what they sent this time. (Everybody just ignore the fact that the 30-something mom of three is taking pictures of herself in the bathroom like she thinks she is Kylie Jenner and focus on the clothes, m’kay?)
Piece #1: 41 Hawthorn Abrianna Longsleeve Knit Cardigan in Jewel Tone Purple.
I really liked this one. The color was pretty, and I liked the way it draped down longer in the front, and it was comfy. But I already have several cardigans, and it was a little too pricey to justify keeping it. So this one got returned.
Piece #2: Pixley Kathy Striped Fit and Flare Dress
I liked the fit and the fabric of this dress (although I thought it drew a lot of unwanted attention to my large bust) but I could not get past the pattern. I am just not a bold pattern kind of a girl. I felt like I was wearing a jailbird Halloween costume. This one also got returned.
Piece #3: Romolo Munroe Feather Pendant Necklace
Piece #4: 41 Hawthorn Queensland Dolman Jersey Top in Teal Green
These were actually the first pieces I tried on straight out of the box and I loved both of them. The shirt is very comfortable. I thought the color would be good for holiday parties and events. I liked that it could be dressed up or down, and it is much more flattering in person than it looks in this picture. I also liked the simple statement necklace. Both of these pieces fit into my budget, so I decided to keep them both.
Here is a better picture of the shirt, and a worse picture of my “I am really too old to be modeling for pictures in the bathroom” face. We’re all sorry you had to see that.
The last piece was this sweater:
Piece #5: Papermoon April Patterned Knit Sweater in Dark Grey
I thought it was cute, I liked the color and the textured pattern, but it was a little too boxy on my curvy figure and I don’t love wearing things that sit up that high, because then I am always worried about them riding up and exposing my underwear. So this one was returned as well.
Well…what do you think? Have you given Stitch Fix a try? How did it work out for you?
