A certain reader (it’s my mom) has been bugging me to post more house tour pictures.
Since it’s Valentine’s day, I thought I would show you the space I share with my sweetie. So today we’re going to tour the master suite.
It’s not decorated yet. We don’t have any pictures on the walls and I have big plans for the wall behind the bed. I do really like it just the way it is, though. It’s one of the only toy-free spaces we have right now.
This is the view as you walk in the door. Eddie and I have been talking about taking silver Sharpies to the wall behind our bed and writing our memories from our past 14 years together all over it. I think it could be really cool, but I haven’t been brave enough to try it yet.
See how the dog insists on sleeping in our bed, even though she has her own memory foam dog bed on the floor? Eddie won’t let me have any decorative throw pillows on the bed either (party pooper), so it is just your average utilitarian bed. A bed that usually has a lazy dog on it.
We bought the bedroom set from Badcock furniture in Tampa. (I dare you to say that name three times without laughing.) The rug is from RugsUSA and the paint color is Woodlawn Silver Brook from the historic paint line at Lowe’s.
If you turn around, this is what you see.
This cheesy saying is special to us because it is what we would say when we hung up the phone back when we were dating in high school.
I inherited this antique sewing table when my grandmother passed away.
There is a small hallway in our bedroom with three doors. The one straight ahead is a linen closet.
The door on the left leads to our master bathroom.
The door on the right leads to our closet. It’s not exactly Pinterest-worthy. It’s just a very big space where we stick our clothes and anything else we don’t want the kids to touch. It’s really hard to photograph because it’s pretty dark in there.
My favorite part about our closet, besides the size, is that we changed our house plans to accommodate a laundry area in it. Yes, we have a closet inside of our closet.
It’s been a really convenient place to have the laundry room!

Thanks! I really like it too. I’m very glad we went with the historic colors.

I kept reading not to see the pics but because I was waiting to see the silver sharpie thoughts on the wall. I LOVE THAT IDEA! Beautiful Room though.

I really like the idea too. Like my husband said, we could always just paint over it if it doesn’t work. I will do a post about if when we get brave enough to go for it. 🙂

I love your room. The color is really pretty. I really love the writing on the wall idea. So clever. If you’re too afraid to write right on the wall, you could get a really huge canvas, paint it the same color as your wall and write on that. Just a thought.
Stephanie says
Thanks, Kathleen! The canvas is a cool idea because we could take it with us if we ever moved. (Which we don’t plan on doing, but you never know.)
